Mission Viejo

Nestled in the Saddleback Valley of Orange County, California, is an almost Mediterranean like city called Mission Viejo. This hilly region was originally purchased by John Forster, who used the land for cattle and sheep grazing, due to its geological location. Until around the 1980’s, this area was one of the last regions in Orange County to become urbanized.

Towards the end of the 1970’s and early 1980’s, an urban planner named Donald Bren mapped out a plan to place roads and housing in these gorgeous hills; an idea that soon become a reality

By 1980, Mission Viejo was almost complete and today more than 100,000 people call Mission Viejo home. With beautiful tree, lined neighborhoods and a semi-arid climate, this city is perfect for raising a family. This gorgeous city also offers many award winning public schools, two hospitals, numerous shopping centers, a large community lake, various sports, golf courses, and so much more.

For those who enjoy showing, The Kaleidoscope Center and The Shops at Mission Viejo will provide plenty of opportunities to explore the latest trends and experience some of Orange County’s finest dining.

In the center of the city lies lake, appropriately named Lake Mission Viejo. For many, the lake offers paddle board and boat rentals, swimming, and fishing. During the summer, the city also hosts musical concerts and outdoor movie screenings which have become a favorite among all generations.

Sports are also a big draw for the community including recreational soccer, baseball and football leagues. Mission Viejo is also home to the Nadadores Swim Team, which is best known for producing top performing swimmers and divers at the national level. If you’re an avid golfer, you’ll feel at home on all 3 of Mission Viejo’s courses including the Casta del Sol Golf Course, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, and the Mission Viejo Country Club.

Perhaps most notable about Mission Viejo is its proximity to nearly all of Orange County’s cities and attractions. Whether it’s a day at the beach or a theater production at South Coast Repertory; you’ll never be too far away from home.
